Civil Engineer, building tools, fixing things.
God bless America. It's pretty awesome here. You should visit if you haven't been.
I work in transportation construction and maintenance. Most of these tools started as a quick fix for something tedious or error-prone in my own workflow — a report that took too long to fill out, a file format nobody wanted to deal with by hand.
Outside of work I tinker — repairing things, automating things, occasionally posting some of it on YouTube as SuperWhizy. This hub is mostly an extension of that: figuring out a problem and building something that actually solves it, rather than something that just looks finished.
"Your files never leave your browser" was true and meaningful when this hub had a couple of tools. Past 30, it stopped being true for all of them — some now run real-time, some lean on a server I control for the heavier lifting. Rather than keep one blanket claim that's only sometimes accurate, every tool on the hub is now tagged with one of three labels, so you know what you're getting before you click.
Your files and data are processed entirely on your own device. Nothing you upload or enter is sent anywhere.
Some of your data reaches a server I control — usually for storage, heavier compute, or a database lookup the browser can't do alone.
Real-time or multiplayer by design — shared state between people or devices is the whole point of the tool.
Building and hosting these tools takes time and resources. If the Lab has helped your workflow, consider supporting my work by using the link below for your next gear purchase.
